Marcia's book The Mercy Step has been longlisted for the Womens Prize for Fiction 2026 and Marcia was also one of the Observers best new novelists for 2025. So it’s sure to be a momentous and inspiring evening. 

The book is set in Bradford in the 1960's the book draws on aspects of Marcia's life growing up. The book was praised for its dark humour, resilience and authentic portrayal of childhood and family.
