Join us for an evening of wine and entertainment with author Matt Coyne discussing his new novel, The Trouble with Sister Francis. Tickets are £7.50 and include a drink and a book discount. Sister Francis is an unlikely nun: sixty, sweary, a lunatic driver, and a smoker. She runs the Blessed Assumption Boys Club. Four best friends from the Whittle council estate, Richie, Bennett, Kenny, and Stan, discover the crumbling club and meet Sister Francis. Set against early 1980s Britain, this novel is a funny, heartwarming, and heartbreaking story of unlikely heroes, quiet rebellions, fierce loyalty, and unexpected hope. A long-forgotten journal holds the key to everything.

Sip and Draw Still Life!
Introducing a new class, Sip and Draw Still Life!
On the last Sunday of every month at A New Leaf Bookshop, Marsden 3-4pm
Unwind your mind and end the weekend in a relaxing way, drawing different arranged objects with guidance in a nurturing and supportive environment. All abilities welcome!
Led by local artist Laura Tillotson a trained teacher and artist.
Arrival from 2:40pm for drinks from the bar.
Tickets are £10 which includes all materials! The ticket doesn’t include the purchase of any drinks.

Tickets are £35 per person departing from A New Leaf, Marsden on a coach.
Arrival from 10-10:30am for a hot drink and sweet nibbles (included in the price) for departure at 11am.
As part of independent bookshop week, author Matson Taylor will be showing you the sights of Beverley as well as a talk in the function room of the historical Rose & Crown, a grade II listed pub at 1:30pm. There will be a menu to follow, any food or drink at the pub is not included in the price but we are assured their sunday roast is a must.
Bookshop drinks on arrival are included in the ticket price. You will be given time for a wander around Beverley!

Join us for a brilliant evening of entertainment and food with author Zena Kamgaing as she releases her new book ‘Dinner Time’.
This ticket is for the second sitting at 7:30pm, meeting at Cafe Oi, Marsden.
We will start with the starter and main meal at award winning restuarant Cafe Oi. After this we will then go to A New Leaf, Marsden for a dessert and author talk.

On Wednesday 10th June, 2026, at 6pm. Jess Kidd is visiting our Marsden shop to talk about her latest book, Murder at the Spirit Lounge, second in the cosy crime series, featuring the fabulous character Nora Breen, retired nun. The first book, Murder at Gulls Nest was a brilliant read, set at the end of the war in a seaside town, Gore-on-sea, a perfect who-done-it. An evening with author Marcia Hutchinson
Join us for a fantastic evening with author Marcia Hutchinson, author of The Mercy Step.
Marcia's book The Mercy Step has been longlisted for the Womens Prize for Fiction 2026 and Marcia was also one of the Observers best new novelists for 2025. So it’s sure to be a momentous and inspiring evening.
The book is set in Bradford in the 1960's the book draws on aspects of Marcia's life growing up. The book was praised for its dark humour, resilience and authentic portrayal of childhood and family.
